Method
- Place the , margarine, and in a large bowl and beat together until light and fluffy. Fold in the , and cubes until thoroughly combined.
- Spoon mixture into a greased and lined 7 (18 cm) square cake tin and level surface. Tie round a double layer of newspaper, higher than the tin. Stand on a thick layer of newspaper.
- Cook for about 3½ hours. Check after 2½ hours and cover with a piece of greaseproof paper if browning. When the cake is ready, a skewer will come out clean from the centre.
- Allow to cool completely in the tin.
